Arsenal Opinion: Why Emery should go all out to sign Suso from AC Milan?

According to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira, Arsenal had sent scouts to watch AC Milan star Suso in Chievo-Milan game last weekend.

Suso has shone immensely since moving to AC Milan from Liverpool back in 2015. The Spaniard has impressed again this season, contributing with five goals and eight assists in 25 Serie A games. One of Serie A’s best players, he is one of Gennaro Gattuso’s go-to man.

The 25-year-old deserves to get the spotlight after his consistent performances for Milan over the last couple of years. But will Suso be the right fit for Arsenal?

Arsenal are in fourth spot and in pole position to secure a return to the Champions League following a two-season absence. The Gunners’ interest in Suso suggests Unai Emery is planning to sign a winger when the transfer window re-opens.

Emery needs to add more quality to his squad to challenge for the title next season and he’ll have to persuade the board to splash significant cash in the upcoming summer transfer window.

One of the areas that certainly needs addressing is the wing department, with Alex Iwobi the only natural wide-man. Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan aren’t natural wide players, so a winger has to be at the top of the priority list.

A player like Suso will undoubtedly bolster Unai Emery’s attacking options at the Emirates Stadium. The diminutive Spaniard’s ball control, pace and ability to dribble past players with ease are usually a delight to watch. He can unlock tightest of defences with his vision and creativity, showing the intelligence of a seasoned campaigner.

The Cadiz-born star showcases good mobility, gets around the pitch with ease and is as good at finishing in front of the goal. Suso is quick unpredictable and self-confident which is evident when he has the ball. He has the intelligence and the technical skill to pull a rabbit out of the hat at any moment, which makes him such a gifted playmaker.

Moreover, the ex-Liverpool ace has added goals to his game this season which is why he has become one of the top attackers in the Serie A.

Conclusion

Suso’s time at Liverpool was forgettable but he has improved leaps and bounds after moving to Italy. He looks absolutely ready to take the next big step in his career.

Emery should break the bank to sign the diminutive Spaniard as the player would increase competition for places within the team and add some much-needed depth to the Arsenal squad. The Spanish attacker certainly would be a statement signing for the Gunners ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
