Daniil Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev

The 26-year-old played in the Metz Open last month but lost in the round of 16 against 3-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka in a riveting three-set encounter. He has turned fortunes in his favor at the Astana Open with a couple of stupendous performances so far.

The Russian No. 1 began his campaign in Astana with a comfortable 6-3, 6-1 win against Albert Ramos-Vinolas to set up a clash with Emil Ruusuvuori in the round of 16. Medvedev proved to be too hot to handle for the Finnish youngster as the former US Open champion won the match 6-3, 6-2.

Roberto Bautista Agut

The world No. 21 has had a decent season thus far, having bagged titles in Qatar and Austria. He also made it to the finals in Mallorca. The 34-year-old had a disappointing time in Flushing Meadows as he crashed out in the first round with a loss against Jeffrey John Wolf in straight sets. However, he has looked good at the Astana Open so far, albeit in certain patches.
