Why Aston Villa should go all out to sign Emiliano Buendia
According to HITC (h/t Birmingham Mail), Aston Villa have prioritized the signing of Norwich City star Emiliano Buendia ahead of next season.
The report suggests that the Argentine playmaker would be available for £20m after the Canaries got relegated to the second-tier at the end of the 2019/20 campaign. However, Villa have to fight to secure the services of Buendia as Crystal Palace are also interested in signing him, as per the report.

Profile
Born in Argentina, Buendia spent time at the academies of Cadetes de San Martin and Real Madrid before joining Getafe’s youth system in 2010. Two years after getting promoted to the Spanish outfit’s senior set-up, he was sent on loan to CyD Leonesa. In total, he made 39 appearances for Getafe before making the jump to Norwich in the summer of 2018.
He played a crucial role in the Canaries’ promotion to the top-flight in his firsts season, with 8 goals and 12 assists, and continued with the fine form into the 2019/20 season. However, he could not help his side secure Premier League status as they fell back. But he has impressed in the top-flight and could continue in the Premier League.

Why Aston Villa need Buendia
Dean Smith’s men fought hard to secure their top-flight status but that would have been impossible without their captain Jack Grealish, who top-scored with 8 goals. And the rest of the squad didn’t have enough to prove this season.
However, Grealish has been linked heavily with a move to the top teams and his departure could leave them without a playmaker in the squad. And this could lead to problems for Villa next season. Thus, they need to bring in a playmaker in the summer, which could help if Grealish leaves.
In that regard, Buendia would be a viable option for the club. The Argentine youngster was brilliant in his debut season in the top-flight, assisting 7 of Norwich’s 26 goals. The report also suggests that he came fourth in the list of most chances created in the Premier League this season.

The 23-year-old is also capable of operating from either flank and his versatility could be a massive boost to Smith’s squad. He has already proven himself in the league and could only get better with experience. And he could also go on to represent them in the long run if he is able to stay in good form.
