Aston Villa vs Tottenham prediction: Tottenham line-up

Tottenham travel to Villa Park on Sunday as they take on league strugglers Aston Villa in the Premier League fixture.

Despite bouncing back from a rough start to the campaign, Jose Mourinho’s men haven’t been at their best. They have been inconsistent but their win against Manchester City the last outing should give them confidence for the rest of the season. They will have to take maximum points to keep their hopes of entering into the top four alive.

On the other hand, Villa have struggled since their promotion to the top flight and were defeated by Bournemouth two weeks back. They would be hoping to put a tough fight on Sunday.

Team News

Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko are not expected to be with the team any time sooner. Whereas Giovani Lo Celso and Erik Lamela are doubtful for the game after picking up injuries of late.

Ben Davis will be another absentee from the game as he has just returned to training after a long spell on the sidelines.

Probable Tottenham XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Hugo Lloris (GK)

The Frenchman’s return to the squad after a long-term injury is a boost to the squad. He was at his best against Guardiola’s men and will remain in between the sticks as he is the first choice.

Serge Aurier (RB)

Aurier has done a decent job since claiming this position for himself. He has contributed with 4 assists but needs to be more careful in defensive situations.

Davinson Sanchez (CB)

The Colombian has started ahead of Jan Vertonghen in recent times. Though he has not been at his best, he should be given the nod once again.

Toby Alderweireld (CB)

The Belgian is one of the most consistent members for Tottenham in the past few years. His experience will be much needed throughout the season and he will be an undoubted starter against Villa.

Japhet Tanganga (LB)

The 20-year-old was excellent for the Lilywhites against Liverpool and Manchester City. He should be preferred ahead of Ryan Sessegnon. Tanganga has been valuable for the team recently.

Harry Winks (CM)

The English international will be key in stopping the opponent’s attack. He needs to step up his game in the absence of Sissoko.

Tanguy Ndombele (CM)

The Frenchman came off the bench in the last league game and was brilliant. He is expected to continue as Lo Celso is doubtful for the game.

Hueng-Min Son (RW)

Son has been excellent throughout the season for Tottenham and he will be expected to create opportunities for the team. He needs to be at his best and help the team cross the line.

Dele Alli (AM)

Alli is a key player in the squad and he has transformed himself under Mourinho. But he was not at his lethal best in the last two games. He needs to be creative and supply enough for the strikers.

Steven Bergwijn (LW)
