Asuka, Kane, Rollins, Stratus: What are the real names of some big WWE wrestlers?

Published by

Many WWE wrestlers don’t use their real names and here are what some of them are called outside of the business

Wrestlers have to take up different names simply because they run a gimmick. Most WWE stars don’t wrestle under their real names, and it makes sense given that the company wants to try something different.

Mark Calaway, The Undertaker, would not have the same feel and effect if he used his real name for his persona.

The same goes for his WWE brother Kane, who has a real name of Glenn Jacobs outside of the ring. Many WWE stars from the past had to take up gimmicked names to provide an extra edge to their character.

Current WWE stars also often use different names but those aren’t as extreme as X-Pac or Mankind.

Real names of WWE stars from the past

After touching upon The Undertaker and Kane, it is best if we bring up another legend from that era, Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Austin was given the extra “Stone Cold” during his time in WWE but the Texas Rattlesnake was born with the real name of Steven James Anderson.

The Rock was called as Rocky Maivia but his real name is Dwayne Douglas Johnson, a name he has used in his movie appearances. Shawn Michaels, another WWE legend, has a name of Michael Shawn Hickenbottom.

Triple H, who is still featuring in WWE, had the Hunter name in the promotion but carried a real name of Paul Michael Levesque. Edge, who is a legend and recently made his return, has a real name of Adam Joseph Copeland.
