The Croatian duo of Mate Pavic and Nikola Mektic take on the Australian duo of Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis in a group game at the ATP Finals.
Kyrgios and Kokkinakis have a 1-1 record so far in the competition. They began their campaign in Turin with a loss against the top-seeded team of Neal Skupski and Wesley Koolhof. Kokkinakis and Kyrgios won the first set but the 2022 US Open runner-up team bounced back strongly to win the match 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 10-5. The Aussie duo fired in 24 aces compared to just 6 from their opponents but Koolhof and Skupski edged them in terms of the win percentage on the first serve. Koolhof and Skupski had an incredible win percentage of 90 on the first serve.
Kyrgios and Kokkinakis had to win their next match to stay afloat in the competition. They defeated the team of Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek in three sets after dropping the first set. The match ended 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 in favor of the 2022 Australian Open champions.
It has been smooth sailing so far for Pavic and Mektic in the competition. They began their campaign against Krajicek and Dodig and won the match 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.
The fourth-seeded team went on to defeat the top-seeded team of Koolhof and Skupski in their second match. Mektic and Pavic produced a dominating display to finish the match in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) to keep a 100% record in the competition. They also made it to the semis by virtue of this win.
Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis will have to win this match to entertain hopes of reaching the semis. However, Mektic and Pavic will be the favorites with the form they have shown so far.
Prediction: Mate Pavic and Nikola Mektic to win in three sets.
