Danielle Collins

The American tennis pro is the highest-seeded player remaining in the field. She has managed to reach the quarterfinals of a tournament for the second time this year. Collins began with a sensational come-from-behind win against Magdalena Frech in the round of 32. The match ended 6-7 (7-9), 6-2, 6-4 in favor of Collins.

In the round of 16, Collins needed just over an hour to get past compatriot Caty McNally in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Collins converted 5 out of 8 break points and did not get broken in the entire match. She will be eyeing her first semifinal of the season.

Anna Kalinskaya

The 24-year-old has reached her first singles quarterfinal of the season. She began her campaign in the ATX Open with a dogged display against Nao Hibino, winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

In the round of 16, the Russian star faced the American qualifier, CoCo Vandeweghe. This turned out to be a rather one-sided affair. Kalinskaya outplayed her opponent to win the match 6-3, 6-1. She converted 4 out of 5 break points and had a win percentage of 90 on the first serve. This win would have certainly given her a lot of confidence as she hopes to avenge her first-round loss to Collins, earlier this year in the Australian Open.
