ATX Open 2023: Danielle Collins vs Magdalena Frech – Preview, Head-to-Head, and Prediction

4th seed Danielle Collins takes on Polish star Magdalena Frech in the round of 32 of the ATX Open on Tuesday.

The American veteran did not have a good start to the season as she was ousted in the first round of the Adelaide International 1. In the Adelaide International 2, she managed to reach the quarterfinal which is still her best result so far in the season. Collins lost to eventual finalist Elena Rybakina in the third round of the Australian Open. The Abu Dhabi Open followed where Collins lost to Jelena Ostapenko in the first round. In Qatar, Collins reached the second round where she was outplayed by Iga Swiatek.

Prior to the ATX Open, Collins took part in the Dubai Tennis Championships. She lost to the talented Linda Fruhvirtova in straight sets 3-6, 4-6 in the first round.

Magdalena Frech

The 25-year-old will be playing in the main draw of a tournament for the first time in 2023. She competed in 6 tournaments prior to the ATX Open but couldn’t make it beyond the qualifiers.

Her most recent assignment was the Dubai Tennis Championships. Frech squared off against Tereza Martincova in the first round of qualifying. The match ended in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 in favor of Martincova. Frech will hope to get her first win in the main draw of a competition in 2023 against Collins, who has looked in indifferent form so far.

The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 1-0 in favor of Collins. She defeated Frech in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 in the round of 32 of the 2022 Guadalajara Open.
