Top seed Magda Linette locks horns with Varvara Gracheva in the round of 32 of the 2023 ATX Open on Tuesday.
The experienced campaigner has been in good form as of late. She made it to her first Grand Slam semifinal in the Australian Open last month. She lost to eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka after defeating the likes of Mayar Sherif, Anett Kontaveit, Ekaterina Alexandrova, Caroline Garcia, and Karolina Pliskova
Linette followed it up with a run to the quarterfinals of the Merida Open last week. She entered the tournament as the top seed and saved two match points to defeat Camila Osorio in a thrilling contest in the first round. Linette received a walkover from Panna Udvardy in the second round, before facing defeat against Rebecca Peterson. The Polish veteran will look to build on her good form.
The 22-year-old could not make it to the main draw of the ASB Classic or the Hobart International. She made it to the third round of the Australian Open for the first time and her campaign Down Under included a win against Daria Kasatkina.
Gracheva also plied her trade in the Merida Open. She won two rounds of qualifying to make it to the main draw. In the first round, Gracheva defeated Tatjana Maria after dropping the first set. The Russian youngster lost to Sloane Stephens in the round of 16.
Linette has a 1-0 lead in the head-to-head scoreline against Gracheva. The Polish star won their most recent encounter 6-3, 6-0 in Strasbourg in 2022.
Prediction: Magda Linette to win in three sets.
