8th seed Marta Kostyuk takes on the experienced Anna-Lena Friedsam in the quarterfinals of the 2023 ATX Open on Friday.
The talented youngster has made it to the quarterfinals for the third time in 2023. She started her campaign in the ATX Open with a 7-5, 6-1 win against Dalma Galfi in the round of 32.
In the round of 16, Kostyuk managed to get the better of Madison Brengle by playing some brilliant tennis in the first and third sets. The match ended 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 in favor of the Ukrainian star. She had a win percentage of 76 on the first serve. The 20-year-old will be determined to get into her first semifinal of the season.
The 29-year-old has made it to his second consecutive quarterfinal. She began with an impressive win against the talented Dayana Yastremska in the round of 32. The match ended 6-4, 6-4 in favor of the German star.
In the round of 16, Friedsam took on Russian teenager Erika Andreeva. This turned out to be one of the best matches in the competition. Friedsam managed to use her experience to win the match 7-5, 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (10-8). She converted 5 out of 9 break points in the match.
