The Australian duo of Alexei Popyrin and Marc Polmans face the team of Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury in the second round of the 2023 Australian Open on Sunday.

The experienced duo finished last season by winning the ATP Finals. They began 2023 by taking part in the Maharashtra Open. Ram and Salisbury reached the semifinals where they lost to the team of Joran Vliegen and Sander Gille.

Last year at the Australian Open, Ram and Salisbury were ousted in the semifinals. They began this year’s Australian Open with a comfortable win in straight sets against the team of Constant Lestienne and Marcos Giron. Ram and Salisbury served very well in the match and had a win percentage of 77 on the first serve.

Popyrin has played some good tennis in the singles competition at the Adelaide International 1. In the doubles event, he teamed with James Duckworth and lost in the first round. Marc Polmans, on the other hand, is playing his first doubles event of the season.

The Australian duo began their campaign at the Australian Open by facing the team of Facundo Bagnis and Robert Galloway. Polmans and Popyrin played some solid tennis to win the match 6-4, 6-3. They were extremely good on the first serve and had a win percentage of 87. They will go into the match against the veterans Ram and Salisbury as the underdogs and will have to play their best game to be in with a shout.
