British No. 1 Cameron Norrie locks horns with Frenchman Constant Lestienne in the second round of the 2023 Australian Open on Wednesday.

The 11th seed has had a bright start to the new season. After registering wins against Rafael Nadal and Taylor Fritz at the United Cup, Norrie finished runner-up at the ASB Classic.

In the first round of the Australian Open, Norrie squared off against Luca Van Assche. The experienced Norrie was made to work hard in the first set but he persevered to win it in the tiebreak. The second and third sets were dominated by Norrie as the match ended 7-6 (7-3), 6-0, 6-3. Norrie won 100 points compared to just 76 won by her opponent. The world No. 12 also managed to fire 6 aces during the encounter.

Constant Lestienne

The 30-year-old managed to win his first match at the Grand Slam level in the first round of this year’s Australian Open. He defeated the experienced Brazilian Thiago Monteiro in straight sets with relative ease.

Lestienne had an impressive win percentage of 78 in the match that he won 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3. After losing to Novak Djokovic in his first match of the season, Lestienne went on to reach the semis at the ASB Classic. Defeating Norrie won’t be an easy task but Lestienne will look to put everything into the match and see where it takes him.

Head-to-Head and Prediction

The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 1-0 in favor of Cameron Norrie. He defeated Constant Lestienne in three sets at the Open 13 in 2021.
