Kyle Edmund

The 28-year-old has not won a match so far in 2023. He is coming into the tournament with a 0-2 record so far in the season. Not the ideal record you would like to have, especially, coming into a Grand Slam event.

Edmund began the new season by playing in the Adelaide International 1. Interestingly, it was Sinner who ousted him in the first round in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. In the Adelaide International 2, Edmund crashed out in the first round following a loss to sixth seed Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets 6-4, 7-5. The British player has not won a set so far in 2023. A win against Sinner will do a world of good to his confidence.

The 15th seed will be playing his second tournament of the year. In the Adelaide International 1, Sinner entered as the 6th seed and made it to the quarterfinals.

The Italian athlete eased past Kyle Edmund and Thanasi Kokkinakis before being ousted by eventual runner-up Sebastian Korda in straight sets. Last year at the Australian Open, Sinner lost in the quarterfinals against Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets. Sinner will start as the favorite against Edmund but the youngster shouldn’t get too complacent.
