Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova face the team of Elena-Gabriela Ruse and Marta Kostyuk in the semifinals of the 2023 Australian Open on Thursday.

On expected lines, the top-seeded team of Siniakova and Krejcikova have steamrolled their opponents en route to the semis.
They faced the team of Catherine Harrison and Ulrikke Eikeri in the first round. Siniakova and Krejcikova won the first set but dropped the second set. The match eventually ended 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Siniakova and Krejcikova made light work of Alison Riske-Amritraj and Linda Fruhvirtova in the second round and won the match 6-2, 6-2 without breaking a sweat. In the third round, they beat Alycia Parks and Oksana Kalashnikova in straight sets 6-0, 6-3 to register another thumping win. Krejcikova and Siniakova advanced to the semis by edging past 6th seed Desirae Krawczyk and Demi Schuurs 6-2, 6-3 in a lop-sided quarterfinal.

Ruse and Kostyuk defeated a couple of seeded teams to reach this far in the competition. In the first round, they produced a dominating effort to defeat Danielle Collins and Heather Watson in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
In the second round, they won against the 9th-seeded team of Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Ellen Perez in an affair that was settled in three sets 3-6, 7-6 (97), 6-0. The duo of Ruse and Mostyuk went on to triumph over the impressive duo of Marketa Vondrousova and Miriam Kolodziejova. The match ended 6-3, 6-4 in favor of the Romanian-Ukrainian duo. In the quarterfinals, Kostyk and Ruse got the better of Storm Sanders and Elise Mertens in a three-set affair.
