In the first round, Nys and Zielinski came back from a set down to defeat the 13th-seeded team of David Vega Hernandez and Rafael Matos. They won another match after dropping the first set against Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson in the second round. In the quarterfinals, Nys and Zielinski defeated the 2nd-seeded team of Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury. This was another match where Nys and Zielinski lost the first set. The match ended 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (8-6), 6-2. In the quarterfinals, Nys and Zielinski finally managed to win the first set and went on to defeat Arthur Rinderknech and Benjamin Bozni in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. Nys and Zielinski went on to defeat the in-form French duo of Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin 6-3, 5-7, 6-2. Nys and Zielinski hit 12 aces and had a win percentage of 89 in the match.

The Australian duo has gotten better as the tournament progressed. They began their campaign with a solid win against John Isner and Hans Hach in the first round. In the second round, they bounced back from a set down to defeat the 6th-seeded team of Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliovaara 3-6, 7-5, 6-2.
In the third round, they registered another come-from-behind win against the team of Gonzalo Escobar and Tomislav Brkic. After being outplayed in the first set, Kubler and Hijikata won the match 1-6, 7-6 (10-8), 6-4. In the quarterfinals, Kubler and Hijikata blew away the top-seeded experienced duo of Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski. The match ended 6-3, 6-1 in favor of Kubler and Hijikata. They carried the momentum from this win and defeated the 8th-seeded team of Horacio Zeballos and Marcel Granollers.
