3rd seed Stefanos Tsitsipas will square off against Quentin Halys in the first round of the 2023 Australian Open on Monday.

The Greek No. 1 got off to a blistering start at the United Cup. He won four matches in the 18-team tournament and played a vital role in Greece reaching the semis.

The 24-year-old picked up wins against Grigor Dimitrov, David Goffin, Borna Coric, and Matteo Berrettini in the United Cup. Last year at the Australian Open, Tsitsipas managed to make it to the semis. He equaled his best result at the Australian Open. He was eventually ousted by Daniil Medvedev. Tsitsipas will hope to win a couple of matches more this year to bag his first Grand Slam title. He is one of the contenders for sure.

Quentin Halys

The 26-year-old has got off to a decent start this season. He has played a couple of tournaments so far and registered 3 wins and two losses.

Halys began the season by participating in the Adelaide International 1. In the first round, he comprehensively defeated Jordan Thompson before going down to eventual champion Novak Djokovic. In the ASB Classic, he picked up comfortable wins against Alex Molcan and Ben Shelton. Eventually, Halys lost to Jenson Brooksby in the quarterfinals.

Head-to-Head and Prediction

Halys and Tsitsipas have met each other on one occasion and the former has a 1-0 lead in the head-to-head scoreline. The Frenchman defeated Tsitsipas in three sets at the 2018 Quimper 1 Challenger event.

Prediction: Stefanos Tsitsipas to win in four sets.
