Third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas faces an upbeat Tallon Griekspoor in the third round of the 2023 Australian Open on Friday.

The Greek superstar has begun the season quite brightly as he notched up four wins at the United Cup and added a couple of more wins at the Australian Open so far.

In the first round, Tsitsipas got past Frenchman Quentin Halys in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). The 24-year-old managed to hit 17 aces during the encounter. In the second round, Tsitsipas faced Australian youngster Rinky Hijikata. The match ended in straight sets 6-3, 6-0, 6-2 as Tsitsipas completely dominated the encounter. He won 82 points compared to just 45 won by his opponent.

Tallon Griekspoor

The talented Dutchman won his first ATP title at the Maharashtra Open earlier this month. In the tournament, he defeated seeded players like Jaume Munar and Aslan Karatsev.

In the 2023 Australian Open, Griekspoor reached the third round for the first time in his career. He got off to a solid start against Pavel Kotov, emerging victorious in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. In the second round, Griekspoor got the better of 32nd seed Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 with a compact performance. The 26-year-old also converted four out of five break points. He will not start as the favorite against Tsitsipas. However, his recent run of form should give him a lot of confidence.
