Nikola Cacic and Asiam-Ul-Haq Qureshi will take on number-one seeds Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski in the third round of the Australian Open
The number one seeds are the team to beat in the men’s doubles circuit at present. Koolhof and Skupski began their journey in Melbourne with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Bublik and Smith. The Dutch-British pair then defeated the Tsitsipas brothers from Greece in a hard-fought encounter. They defeated the Greek pairing 7-6, 6-4, 7-6 in an intense three-setter to set up a clash against Cacic and Qureshi.
The Pakistan-Serbia pairing of Cacic and Qureshi have put up an impressive display so far in Melbourne. The unseeded duo began their campaign with a hard-fought win against the Portuguese duo of Sousa and Cabral in the first round. They followed it up with a convincing 7-6, 7-6 straight sets win over 15th seeds Gonzalez and Roger-Vaselin. Cacic and Qureshi are a relatively new pairing but have gelled well together so far. It remains to be seen if the pair can put up a challenge against the most dominant pair in the present men’s doubles circuit.
