Published by

The sequel to the fan favourite Axiom Verge has launched and here is everything that you need to know about the new Axiom Verge 2 game

Just like its prequel, Axiom Verge 2 is a Metroidvania video game. It is developed by an indie developer Thomas Happ. You can play the game on PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Axiom Verge 2 is part of the same saga as Axiom Verge but is a completely new game. The story is completely different with new characters, settings and bosses. You can play the game before or after playing the original game.

Story

The main protagonist of Axiom Verge 2 is Indra. Indra is the mysterious billionaire behind the worldwide Globe 3 conglomerate. She has found a completely new world with new possibilities. But she is also facing some troubles in the new world that she has found. There are some mysterious voices calling out to her. She can’t figure out who they are or what is their desire.

The new world is hiding in a cargo lift in Antarctica. It appears to be an ancient, alternate Earth, complete with mountains, lakes, deserts, and the ruins of a civilization. But it is not normal with something eerie about it. There is something else lurking past the fringes of reality waiting to pull you in.

Gameplay

Axiom Verge 2 is a side-scrolling action-adventure game where the player controls the main character. The game focuses on action and exploration and features over 60 items and power-ups. The gameplay borrows elements from classic games such as Metroid, Contra, Blaster Master, and Bionic Commando, among others. Axiom Verge 2 has some additional items which enhance the gameplay

Additional items

With a completely new world, separate from the original one, there are some newly added items.

Every time you stop at one of these, a tiny piece of you is left behind.  This allows you to be reborn if you take too much damage to continue. They basically work as a checkpoint.
