The F1 circus is back for the Azerbaijan 2022 GP but what will be weather like at the track?
Rain has played a major role in the previous F1 Grand Prix as it added a bit more excitement to the Monaco GP.
The F1 circus is back this weekend for a race at the Baku City Circuit and everyone will be wondering if the rain will make things interesting in Azerbaijan.
However, fans looking forward to a wet track with changing conditions will be disappointed. The weather forecast confirms it will be warm and sunny on all three days.
Weather reports say that the highs for Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be 27C, 28C and 29C respectively. There is very little to no chance of rain and ti should be a bright and sunny track for the F1 racers to attack.
What challenges does the Baku City Circuit possess?
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is one of the newest races on the F1 calendar. That already throws up a few problems for drivers due to the lack of races in the country, but this being a street circuit, has a lot of other challenges for the racers too.
The length of the circuit is over 6km and is run for 51 laps. This is the third-longest circuit on the F1 calendar.
The circuit has some very tight and twisty sections as it loops around some parts of the Old City. While there are some tight sections that take drivers close to the walls, there are some big straights too.
F1 cars cross 350-360 km/h and the use of the DRS is big in overtaking on the main straight.
There is one interesting fact at Baku with four races being held with four different winners. Red Bull have seen Daniel Ricciardo and Sergio Perez win the 2017 and 2021 races. Mercedes have had Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas taking the 2018 and 2019 races respectively.
Last year’s Baku Grand Prix was filled with some crazy moments with both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen missing out on the points.
Red Bull and Ferrari are in a fight this season for top honours, and it is to be seen who comes out on top.
