Baldur’s Gate 3 has plenty of side quests in all acts. The quests in act 1 are much easier to complete. Also, completing these will grant unlimited rewards like gold, exp and other materials. Free the Artist is a primary quest in the game’s first act. This quest is available in Zhentarim Hideout, The Risen Road.
Free the Artist is a recurring quest. In act 1, there will be small tasks. While the same quest has many objectives during the third and final act of Baldur’s Gate III. You have to unlock and complete the Find the Missing Shipment quest to get access to Zhentarim Hideout. After this, you will progress to the next set of quests.

Reach Zhentarim Hideout and find the platform inside the basement. Now, you have to find a painter called Brem. The painter will explain more and you have to meet Oskar as well. Rescue Oskar from enemies by paying some gold coins. Clear out remaining mobs and progress to the next task.
Also, you can get a portrait of yourself from the painter. Then complete some persuasion checks and recruit Oskar Fevras. Help Oskar by providing 200 bucks for his travel expenses. Complete the remaining small tasks and this quest will be completed for the first act.
Act 3
The next part of this quest starts in the lower city area level after you reach Lady Jannath’s Estate. Things will be complicated once you head inside the room, so make sure to get the best weapons.
Things like furniture and desks will float above and these flying objects will try to hit you. Use See Invisibility Spell and drink the magical potion to spot enemies like poltergeists. Clear these small enemies and proceed to find Oskar again.
Oskar is located on the second floor inside the rightmost room. This time, Oskar is in a devilish state along with Lady Jannath. To retrieve Oskar, you have to find his Atelier on the topmost floor. Avoid cursed skulls and their shockwaves. Use cursed spells like disintegrate or remove curse and best these enemies in a turn-based mode fight.
Now find and combine Oskar’s painting with the easel to open the secret door in the Atelier. There will be a letter inside the secret room and you can read it to know about the backstories of Oskar who was also in a relationship with someone else. He also told about his love to the Mystic Carrion and wanted his help as well.
Torch of Revocation, the unique and story torch spawns in Mystic Carrion’ house at the Lower City. Now there comes a tricky situation where you have to either defeat Mystic himself or help him as well. You can help Mystic find his servant and also procure the Torch that’s also unlocked from the gilded chest, alcove behind him. This magical torch can be utilized to burn the painting or portrait in the atelier’s secret room.
Now, head inside the room where both Oskar and Lady Jannath are there. Here, you also have to decide the fate of Oskar Fevras. You will be asked to select some choices and you can end the quest in the same way. The ending will be based on the choices you select. It will also impact your future stories of Baldur’s Gate III.
