Predicted Leeds United XI to face Man City in the Premier League

Leeds United face another stern challenge in the Premier League as they welcome Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City this weekend. It has been a good start to Marco Bielsa’s first season in the league as they have 2 wins out of 3 and were only edged out cruelly in the opening game against Liverpool.

Manchester City on the other hand are coming off a battering at the hands of Leicester City in the last game where they shipped an embarrassing 5 goals. It will be an intriguing fixture as Leeds do have the ability to take the game to Guardiola’s men.

Team News

Marco Biesla confirmed on the club’s official website that Pablo Hernandez is out for some time but not a lot of changes should be expected.

Probable Leeds XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Illan Meslier (GK)

Meslier retains his spot between the sticks given his performances.

Stuart Dallas (LB)

Dallas might return to his original position at left-back after spending the 90 minutes in midfield versus Sheffield United.

Liam Cooper (CB)

A solid showing in the last game but will have his hands full with the tricky Raheem Sterling this time.

Robin Koch (CB)

Despite looking a bit under pressure against Sheffield United, he is likely to retain his place over Struijk.

Luke Ayling (RB)

Ayling shifts back to his natural left-back position after playing the last one at centre-back.

Kalvin Phillips (CDM)

The Englishman is the heart and soul of Leeds’ midfield. His ability to sit deep, offer protection to the backline and spray forward passes will be of utmost importance against Man City.

Mateusz Klich (CM)

Another important player for the team with his endless bags of energy. Winning his midfield battle with the opposite number will be vital.

Tyler Roberts (AM)

Continues in place of the experienced Pablo Hernandez. Needs to provide more creativity than he did in the last game.

Ezgjan Alioski (LW)

Alioski should take Jack Harrison’s spot as Marcelo Bielsa hinted earlier.

Helder Costa (RW)

The fleet-footed winger but will have a good chance to exploit Man City as Benjamin Mendy has looked suspect in recent games.

Patrick Bamford (ST)

It’s been a good start to the season for the former Chelsea man and with 3 goals in the last 3 league games, you would fancy him to get on the scoresheet again.
