The Argentine duo of Gonzalez and Molteni will take on Glasspool and Heliovaara in the Semi-finals at the Barcelona Open
Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliovaara are a seasoned duo and they are coming into this match after registering two solid victories. In the first round, the veteran duo got the better of Nys and Zielinski in a thrilling match 2-6, 7-6, 10-0. They followed it up with a commendable straight sets victory over second seeds Salisbury and Ram 7-6, 7-5.
Glasspool and Heliovaara suffered three back-to-back quarter-final exits at the Indian Wells, the Miami Open and the Monte-Carlo Masters before coming into this event. Their best performance so far this season has come at the Dubai Tennis Championships in March, where they finished as runners-up. The experienced duo will be aiming to win their first silverware of the season in Barcelona.
Gonzalez and Molteni’s form coming into the match at Barcelona Open
The all-Argentine duo of Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni are coming into this match after a convincing straight set wins in both their previous round matches. They aren’t as experienced as their opponents but certainly gave a good account of themselves when they met the same opponents last week in Monte Carlo. Gonzalez and Molteni’s best performance so far this year came at the Rio Open, where they went all the way to clinch the title. The Argentines will be looking to replicate that form and cause a major upset against their much-fancied opponents.

Head to head and Predictions
Glasspool/Heliovaara and Gonzalez/Molteni have played each other once before on the ATP tour. They met last week in the Round of 16 of the Monte-Carlo Masters and played out a three-set thriller with Glasspool and Heliovaara eventually coming out on top despite losing the first set. They will once again be the slight favourites in this encounter but the Argentine pair will certainly put up a strong fight. It is a tough match to call especially when both teams are so similar in playing style. However, if we’ve to pick a winner, we would expect a win in three sets for Glasspool and Heliovaara.
