He was also named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year after enrolling at UCLA in 1998. Davis averaged 13.6 points and 5.1 assists in his college career before declaring for the NBA draft in 1999.
He was picked third overall by the Charlotte Hornets and led the team to the playoffs in his second season itself, sweeping the Miami Heat in the first round. The California-native shot the longest shot in NBA history at 89 feet against the Bucks in 2001. He won the game for his side with 0.7 seconds left on the clock. Davis had many playoffs runs with Charlotte before getting traded to the Golden State Warriors.
