Baron Davis was a McDonald’s High School All-American, leading his team Crossroads School in Santa Monica to the championship of the Beach Ball Classic tournament and winning MVP. He was also named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year after enrolling at UCLA in 1998. Davis averaged 13.6 points and 5.1 assists in his college career before declaring for the NBA draft in 1999.

He was picked third overall by the Charlotte Hornets and led the team to the playoffs in his second season itself, sweeping the Miami Heat in the first round. The California-native shot the longest shot in NBA history at 89 feet against the Bucks in 2001. He won the game for his side with 0.7 seconds left on the clock. Davis had many playoffs runs with Charlotte before getting traded to the Golden State Warriors. His injuries started to pile up but it did not deter him from leading the Warriors to their first playoff appearance since 1994.

Davis faced further tension with coaches in San Francisco and opted to sign for the Los Angeles Lakers next. His problems with authority carried with him throughout his career as he was moved on to Cleveland and then to New York. In 2012 he became a free agent. Since 2017, he has been a regular panelist at TNT after his playing career ended. He made a short appearance for Delaware 86ers in the Drew League in 2015. He was a two-time NBA All-Star, picked into the All-NBA Third Team in 2004, and led the league in steals twice.
