Beatriz Haddad Maia bagged her first professional doubles title at the $10k tournament in Mogi das Cruzes in September 2010 at the age of 14. She won her first professional singles title one year later at the $10k tournament in Goiania when she was 15.
She had memorable campaigns in the French Open doubles events in years 2012 and 2013. The Brazilian came second in both the editions alongside Paraguayan Montserrat Gonzalez and Ecuadorian Domenica Gonzalez respectively.
She turned pro in 2014 and later that year, she became Brazil’s second-highest ranked female tennis player.
Maia’s WTA Tour-Level debut came at the 2013 Brasil Tennis Cup where she received a wildcard. Her first WTA main-draw win came against Hsu Chieh-yu in the first round but she failed to go beyond the second round following a loss to Melinda Czink.
Maia won her first WTA Tour doubles title alongside compatriot Paula Cristina Goncalves at Bogota in 2015. She finished 2016 on a strong note by winning two consecutive titles in Scottsdale and Waco.

She returned to action after getting back to full fitness, but on July 23, 2019, it was announced by the International Tennis Federation that the southpaw had been issued a provisional suspension with immediate effect, pending determination of charge against her at a full hearing. This was after she tested positive for metabolites of two Selective androgen receptor modulator substances.
After a period of intense turmoil, Haddid was allowed to return to action on May 22, 2020. She dropped to 1342nd in the rankings and had to compete in smaller tournaments again to work her way back up.
She returned to action at the ITF of Montemor-o-Novo in Portugal in September 2020. Maia went on to win that tournament and three more in Portugal in a short span of time.
In 2022, she made it to the finals of the doubles event in the Australian Open. Haddad won her biggest singles title at the WTA 250 Nottingham Open, while also winning the doubles tournament alongside Zhang Shuai. She followed up this victory with another one at the Birmingham Classic.
