Becky Lynch lost her NXT Women’s title to Lyra Valkyria at NXT Halloween Havoc 2023
There was a huge shock on the cards on night 1 of Halloween Havoc. NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch took on Lyra Valkyria in the main event of the show.
Lynch recently became champion and was expected to keep the title. However, she was defeated by the 27-year-old Irish star. Lynch is also Irish and she had no qualms about giving her stamp of authority to the NXT star.
The Man, as Lynch is known, posted just four words on Twitter (now known as X). She claimed that the future is bright with an emoji of the Irish flag, hinting at great things for Valkyria.
Valkyria joined WWE in 2020 after spending 5 years in other smaller and indie promotions.
She first made her name on NXT UK in 2020 and then moved to the United States in late 2022.
She did lose to former champion Tiffany Stratton at NXT Battleground but has finally been able to pick up the main title after defeating Becky Lynch.
There was another big talking point from the match as new signing Jade Cargill was watching from a special seat.
Cargill was signed by WWE after making a huge mark in AEW. There has been a lot of fanfare regarding this signing, and she kept a keen eye on who came out on top.
Surprisingly, Cargill didn’t have any words for her rivals but instead spoke about herself and how good she looked.
Cargill is a former champion on AEW and there is no doubt she will win several titles here as well. It will be interesting to see if she is also given a title shot right off the bat.
The former AEW star is a huge name on WWE and she probably won’t spend too much time on NXT. Cargill seems to be a generational talent and has all the tools to become a big star in WWE.
She might pick up the NXT title and then move to Raw and SmackDown when that happens, and not if, she will become a mainstay for one of the main brands for a long time.
