AJ McKee became the new Bellator Featherweight world champion after submitting Patricio Pitbull via a standing guillotine at Bellator 263

Bellator 263 had an incredible main event with Patricio Pitbull Freire taking on the rising star in AJ McKee.

McKee came into this clash undefeated in his MMA career and was on a 17-fight winning streak.

However, Pitbull was in a class of his own as the champion had won his last seven fights. Many had called this one of the biggest fights in the history of the Bellator promotion.

Another big talking point was the fact that Khabib Nurmagomedov was in the arena as he was coaching several of his teammates on the card.

Khabib ended the night undefeated as a coach but that wasn’t the biggest talking point of Bellator 263.

That came via McKee who subbed Pitbull out via a guillotine choke.

Now getting a win via a standing guillotine choke isn’t new but getting this result against Pitbull is something of a huge feat.

McKee initially landed a ferocious kick in the first round itself and was seen celebrating. However, he sense that the fight was not over and latched a guillotine on the champion.

Pitbull was caught tight and could not break free before the referee called for a stoppage. The champion might have been unconscious when the call was made and it was celebration time for McKee.

Not only did McKee become the new champion, he also won an additional $1million over his fight pay.

This was considered as one of the biggest MMA fights ever to take place and it will be interesting to see who McKee fights next.

Many are wanting a rematch of the pair, and that could be just as big if not bigger than Bellator 263’s main event.
