Crystal Palace player ratings vs Burnley in the Premier League

Crystal Palace fell way short against Burnley in what was a very important bottom half clash in the Premier League. The Eagles were hit with early goals in both halves and failed to recover from that.

Johann Gudmundsson and Jay Rodriguez put Burnley clear within 10 minutes before Matthew Lowton sealed the deal just after half time with a third. Here are the Crystal Palace players rated from the game.

Crystal Palace player ratings

Formation: 4-4-2

Vicente Guaita (GK) – 6

Could do nothing to prevent the early goals. Was not tested much thereafter.

Nathaniel Clyne (RB) – 6

Tried to provide some impetus down the right and delivered some dangerous crosses.

Cheikhou Kouyate (CB) – 6

Nervy initial moments in the game. Was often dragged out of position by the Burnley forwards.

Scott Dann (CB) – 5

Did little to help out Van Aanholt, who had a torrid time. Had a bad game and looked out of sorts.

Patrick Van Aanholt (LB) – 5

Made an absolute mess for the first goal and failed to clear the ball. One of his worst showing in a Palace shirt.

Luka Milivojevic (CM) – 6

Struggled to impose himself on the game and control proceedings from the middle of the park.

Jairo Riedewald (CM) – 6

Tried to move his side forward with his forward passes. Was a very effective outlet in midfield.

Jordan Ayew (RM) – 7

Cut in on quite a few occasions but couldn’t do any sort of damage in the final third.

Eberechi Eze (LM) – 6

Showed intent with some dribbles occasionally but produced nothing effective.

Michy Batshuayi (LS) – 5

He was absolutely invisible through his time on the pitch. Rightly hooked off for Andros Townsend.

Christian Benteke (RS) – 6

Had a quiet game but with poor service. Benteke could hardly affect proceedings. Held up the ball on a few instances but wasn’t much of a threat.

Substitutes

Andros Townsend – 6

Was a lively presence in the minutes that he got.

Jean-Philippe Mateta – 6

The new man will be pushing for a start after just a decent cameo in this one.
