Predicted Everton line-up to face Liverpool in the Premier League
Everton will want to spoil Liverpool’s march towards glory when they host the Merseyside Derby at the Goodison Park on Sunday.
The Toffees claimed some much-needed respite in midweek by beating relegation-threatened Cardiff City 3-0 in south Wales. They currently sit ninth, level on points with West Ham and four adrift of both Wolves and Watford.
Liverpool, meanwhile, hold a one-point lead at the top of the table and will enter the weekend’s game off the back of a 5-0 smashing of Watford.
Team News
Everton could have a nearly clean bill of health for Sunday’s Merseyside derby.
Probable Everton XI
Formation: 4-3-3
Manager: Marco Silva
Jordan Pickford (GK)
Pickford is Everton’s undoubted no.1 and that won’t be different this weekend.
Seamus Coleman (RB)
Coleman will retain his place at right-back and look to put in a dominant display against bitter rivals, Liverpool.
Phil Jagielka (CB)
Jagielka did very well at Cardiff and will look to put in a big performance in the Merseyside derby.
Michael Keane (CB)
The England international has been a permanent fixture for the Toffees this season. A sure starter.
Lucas Digne (LB)
Digne has made the left-back position his own and is an undoubted starter against the Reds.
Idrissa Gueye (CDM)
The Senegalese star could be deployed in a deeper role this weekend. His interceptions skills and work-rate make him such an important player for Everton.
Andre Gomes (RCM)
Gomes is an intelligent player who has the ability to pick a pass and control the tempo of the game. He could start on the right-hand side of the midfield trio.
Gylfi Sigurdsson (LCM)
Produced arguably his best performance of the season in the 3-0 victory over Cardiff. Expect the Icelander to start this weekend as well.
Bernard (LW)
Bernard is a tricky customer who looks to find pockets of spaces and influence the game. He should start on the left wing.
Theo Walcott (RW)
Walcott has been utterly disappointing this campaign so far, yet Silva is likely to prefer him ahead of Lookman on the right wing.
Richarlison (ST)
Richarlison could be preferred ahead of Calvert-Lewin up front. The Liverpool defenders have to be wary of the Brazilian’s pace and movement in the final third.
