The MP-40 is, unsurprisingly, one of the best guns in Vanguard in its early phases. From close to medium range, the iconic WWII-era submachine gun is dominant, and it’s especially good for objective players or those who just like to run and gun. The MP-40 can currently compete with any other submachine gun or assault rifle on the market. This could change in the future, but you can count on this gun to be in the meta for a long time. Its speed and accuracy are also unrivalled.

2. STG44

It’s no surprise that the STG44 is the most popular weapon in Vanguard, with about a quarter of all players using it. It’s your first Assault Rifle, with nearly no recoil and the ability to kill in two shots. This vintage WW2 Assault Rifle is extremely simple to operate and can be used by players of all skill levels. The STG44 will most likely fall down the pecking order if the buggy two-shot attachments are nerfed.

6. Kar98K

The Kar98k has always been a favourite among quick-scopers and montage-makers, and this edition is no exception. The Kar is the most powerful of the sniper and marksman guns in the game. The Kar98k can easily hold down objects and melt faces in YouTube videos with a lot of lens flare once you get adjusted to the cadence of the bolt-action sniper’s firing rate. With time, other snipers will be added, but for now, the Kar98k reigns supreme.

7. Volkssturmgewehr

Most gamers will refer to the Volkssturmgewehr simply as the “Volk,” which is a bit of a tongue twister. However, while the gun’s pronunciation is difficult, the gun itself is far more difficult. The Volk has a 5.2 percent kill share and is one of the more powerful ARs in the game, so it’s worth a go if you’re sick of the STG.

8. BAR

The BAR is definitely the finest option in Vanguard right now if you prefer a slower-firing, hard-hitting assault weapon. The BAR is quite powerful, resembling an LMG more than an AR at times.
