If you’re seeking new PC games, you’ll probably never be disappointed. There’s almost too much to count, with everything from huge studios to small indie teams making their games available on platforms like Steam and Epic. That’s bad news for your backlog, but good news for you because there will never be a shortage of new PC games to play.
While there will be no new PC games left to be released in 2021, 2022 promises to be a huge year. This Spring is shaping up to be a busy one, so whether you’re like strategy games, big RPGs, shooters, or even the PS4 back catalog, keep reading for a list of Best PC games coming your way in 2022.
Best PC Games coming in 2022
1. God of War (Jan 14, 2022)
The God of War reboot, released in 2018, is the most recent Sony first-party game to make the leap to PC. With giants, trolls, and Valkyries to face, you’ll be glad you have the truly excellent Leviathan axe at your disposal. Re-establishing the often sullen and sometimes furious Kratos in the midst of Norse mythology rather than Greek mythology, an imposing and heartfelt narrative plays out alongside epic combat – with giants, trolls, and Valkyries to face, you’ll be glad you have the truly excellent Leviathan axe at hand.
2. Rainbow Six Extraction (Jan 20, 2022)
Rainbow Six: Extraction looks to be nearing completion after a few of delays. This one is especially interesting since it builds on the framework laid in Siege while also introducing a completely new concept. Extraction pits you against a deadly extraterrestrial parasite, with a focus on three-player co-op, rather than competing with other operators. Rainbow Six Parasite was the original name for this game, however it has since been renamed as it has progressed through production. This spin-off will be a significant change from the series’ prior entries, focusing on PvE rather than the popular PvP action.
3. Monster Hunter Rise (Jan 12, 2022)
Monster Hunter Rise is bringing the iconic franchise back to PC after a successful Nintendo Switch release and the wild success of Monster Hunter: World. If the last entry hooked you in, you’ll find much more to appreciate here, which is a little different from World’s take on the series. With your new Palamute dog mount, you’ll be visiting Kamura Village this time.
4. Elden Ring (Feb 25, 2022)
FromSoftware and Bandai Namco finally let the cat out of the bag, revealing a fresh aesthetic that was probably well worth the wait. Elden Ring will have in-depth combat similar to the Souls series, as well as a huge open environment to explore on horseback. You can tell this game is produced by FromSoftware, the legendary Souls creator, yet it’s shaping up to be a big step forward for the studio.
5. Dying Light 2: Stay Human (Feb 4, 2022)
You’d better get ready for the Dying Light 2 release date because the choices you make in this zombie parkour sequel will have a huge impact on the greater world as groups battle for dominance. That’s only during the day; if you’re not careful, the night might completely strip you of your humanity!
6. Total War: Warhammer 3 (Feb 17, 2022)
Warhammer 3, the third instalment in the popular Total War: Warhammer strategy game series, promises more of the same tactical action, including turn-based map management and real-time conflicts. The campaign is set in the mythical Realm of Chaos this time, with a campaign area “twice the size” of Warhammer 2’s Eye of the Vortex map. Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle, and Slaanesh from Warhammer 3 will all be featured, as will Kislev and Grand Cathay as human civilizations, with more to be announced.
7. Stalker 2 (April 28, 2022)
The Stalker series has been available on PC for some time, and the next instalment will transport us to Chernobyl in 2022. STALKER 2’s wide-open environment is one of the game’s most fascinating features, providing plenty to do and discover as you explore. The STALKER series has been known for its emphasis on player choice, which will continue in STALKER 2 — though it appears to play a larger role this time around. This game has been in the works for quite some time, and it looks like the wait will be well worth it in the end.
8. Company of Heroes 3 (2022)
Company of Heroes 3 has been officially announced, which is great news for strategy game enthusiasts. The next new game in the popular RTS series is set in the Mediterranean’s mountains, deserts, and beaches. The game includes a ‘dynamic campaign map,’ which changes with each playtime. In single-player, there’s also a ‘full tactical pause’ feature if you need to take a break to assess the situation.
9. A Plague Tale: Requiem (2022)
Given how successful A Plague Tale: Innocence did critically and economically, it was only a matter of time until we got a sequel. The stars of the previous game, Amicia and Hugo, will return in A Plague Tale: Requiem to deal with the fallout from the first installment. Because this is a direct sequel, there will undoubtedly be references to A Plague Tale: Innocence, but perhaps there will also be new surprises. We don’t know much about the gameplay or story yet because it’s still a long way off, but if it’s anything like the original game, it’ll be fantastic.
10. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (2022)
At E3 2021, Ubisoft officially unveiled Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which had been in production for what seemed like years. From the perspective of the Na’vi, this first-person open-world action game will transport players to the Western Frontier. Of course, it’ll be set in the same universe as James Cameron’s successful Avatar film, however, it’ll be a separate, stand-alone plot. Frontiers of Pandora will undoubtedly be stunning, but whether or whether it will be enjoyable to play remains to be seen.
