We take a look at WWE’s all Six Black WWE champions ever
WWE has not had many Black WWE champions since it began it’s operations. Interestingly enough one can count on their hands the amount of WWE Champions that there have been ever. Let’s have a look at the six Black WWE champions the company has ever seen.
1. The Rock
The Rock was the first ever Black WWE champion in the history of the company. He is also arguably one of the best performers in the history of the WWE. He became the WWF (Now WWE) Champion in 1998. It made The Rock was one of the biggest stars in the company and also expanded the company’s viewership to the masses. The Rock won the WWF Championship at Survivor Series 1998 where he defeated Mankind.
2. Booker T
Booker T won the WWE World Heavyweight title in 2006. It made him the second ever WWE Champion after The Rock previously winning it in 1998. Booker T would later lose out his World Heavyweight Championship to Batista. His impact was so massive that he was voted the greatest WWE World Heavyweight Champion ever in 2013.
3. Mark Henry
Mark Henry became the WWE World Heavyweight Champion in 2011 when he beat Randy Orton at the Night of Champions PPV. Henry had already made his presence in the weight lifting sport before he decided to change his career path. His achievements in the weight lifting division are unparalleled
4. Kofi Kingston
Kofi Kingston is the company’s first ever African born WWE Champion. Kingston defeated Daniel Bryan at the WrestleMania 35 to create history. The fans love Kofi Kingston all around the world for his entertaining persona and to see him win the WWE Championship sent the fans into a frenzy. Kingston lost his title to Brock Lesnar on the 20th Anniversary of SmackDown. It was an a tough pill to swallow for Kingston as he was defeated in only eight seconds.
5. Bobby Lashley
Bobby Lashley has had multiple runs with the company. Lashley won the WWE Championship at Raw of March 1, 2021. He defeated The Miz to win the championship. Lashley’s character has been turned into a heel since he joined forces with MVP.
Goldberg returned for a feud with Lashley and two clashed at WWE SumerSlam in August where Lashley managed to defeat Goldberg. However his reign ended on Raw of September 13th when Big E cashed in his Money In The Bank after Lashley’s match against Randy Orton.
6. Big E
Big E became the sixth Black WWE Superstar to win a WWE World title after defeating Bobby Lashley. He was also the first ever Black Superstar to win the Money In The Bank Ladder match. He is undoubtedly a fan favorite in the WWE because of his entertaining and goofy character. Big E will definitely look to defend his WWE Championship in the coming days.
