Boba Fett and Fennec Shand have become key henchmen of Jabba the Hutt on Mandalore. To remove them from planet would threaten their authority.
There is no official announcement on Boba Fett’s Season 2 release date.
Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni did an outstanding job developing their characters in The Mandalorian. Let’s hope they continue the trend in The Book of Boba Fett!
Disney+
After its impressive debut, fans may wonder whether The Book of Boba Fett will return for another season. Thankfully, it appears likely that Disney’s live-action Star Wars series will remain part of their live line-up; The Mandalorian returns later this year and likely so too The Book of Boba Fett. While their final episode ended with Fennec Shand and Boba Fett defeating Pyke Syndicate together, plenty of opportunities awaits us all in terms of adventure with Boba.
The Book of Boba Fett’s first season premiered on December 29, 2021, and ran until February 9, 2022, garnering mixed reviews from critics. While many lauded Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen’s performances as well as action sequences, cinematography, soundtrack, cinematographer work, as well as cinematographer work (especially of Temuera Morrison), some others had criticisms regarding writing, pacing, use of flashbacks, portrayal of Boba Fett himself.
Timothy Olyphant played Cobb Vanth, recovering from his encounter with Cad Bane. This may signal that Sheriff Vanth could return as an antagonist or at least make an appearance during season 5. However, no announcement has been made yet as to his return or not.
Disney+ will unveil a second season of The Book of Boba Fett as its last original series set during Star Wars’ Mandalorian era before turning its focus back onto films. Meanwhile, Rogue One prequel Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor, Ahsoka, The Bad Batch as well as other shows will air alongside each other within this universe, all taking place some years post Return of the Jedi.
Star Wars Episode IX
Star Wars Episode IX may mark the conclusion of Skywalker saga, but it will not be the last movie in franchise. Star Wars Episode IX will instead serve as a standalone spinoff movie about a secret team who steal plans for Death Star and will answer some burning questions from sequel trilogy such as who Snoke is, what happened to Rey’s parents, and whether Luke Skywalker still lives.
Star Wars Episode IX first made its debut at Star Wars Celebration Chicago in April 2019. This short trailer generated much discussion, with speculation swirling that Rey has joined the Dark Side. Fans still have questions about this film including why Supreme Leader Snoke found out so quickly about Rey’s whereabouts as well as what became of her parents.
Star Wars Episode IX will feature many of the same actors from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, such as Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren and Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata; Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico; Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux; and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.
This movie will be released on December 20, 2019, originally planned for May 24 but was moved up due to competing blockbusters. Furthermore, when Colin Trevorrow left and JJ Abrams took over as director, production had to be postponed further.
Returning characters include Keri Russell as master thief Zorri Bliss, Richard E. Grant as First Order allegiant General Pryde, and Anthony Daniels as C-3PO; alongside newcomers Naomi Ackie playing Resistance ally Jannah and Dominic Monaghan playing an unnamed bad guy.
Star Wars Episode VIII
The latest Star Wars film has garnered mixed reviews, but continues the new Disney era of movies. Set for release this summer, this eighth installment in the main franchise follows Kylo Ren and his First Order as they attempt to destroy resistance forces fighting them off against them. A special edition version will include deleted scenes and bonus features in addition to a making of featurette about this one of a-kind film.
At Star Wars Celebration London earlier this year, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy gave fans plenty of details regarding Rian Johnson’s upcoming trilogy and Taika Waititi’s work with Daisy Ridley; however, no confirmations regarding a potential second season of The Mandalorian were given.
Boba Fett made a welcome return in The Mandalorian and many were eager for more adventures with him. The Book of Boba Fett seemed an appropriate follow-up as it would follow him as he establishes himself as Tatooine’s crimelord; unfortunately it failed to capture viewer interest like its predecessor and has been cancelled without being renewed for another season.
Does that mean Din Djarin and Grogu’s story is over for good? Perhaps not; it is still too soon to say for certain. A lot can change within a year and it is possible that Din Djarin and Grogu could return with another season.
