Bobby Lashley picked up an injury at WWE Elimination Chamber 2022
Former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley had a torrid Elimination Chamber 2022. He came in as the champion but had to defend his title in an Elimination Chamber match.
Things did not go his way as he was hurt during a segment. Austin Theory was thrown into Lashley’s pod early on and The All-Mighty got injured.
He was taken out of the match by the medics and WWE also provided an update on the same later on.
WWE later confirmed that Lashley had picked up a concussion in the incident.
However, this isn’t the full story. Kazeem Famuyide, from the Ringer Wrestling Show (h/t Wrestling Inc) claimed that the former champion had suffered a shoulder injury and is expected to be out for a few months.
“I have it under good authority that Bobby Lashley is shoot hurt and has been hurt since the Rumble match,” Kazeem Famuyide revealed. “If you noticed he hasn’t worked any RAWs. He hasn’t really defended his title. He was shoot hurt at the [Brock] Lesnar at the Rumble. Again, I was wondering how they were going to work him in there while being hurt. I’m assuming this concussion protocol thing is the way to get him out there.
“From what I’m told, it’s for a least four months. Shoulder surgery. I’m hearing that he might not even make it to Mania. From what I’m told he is shoot hurt and should be out for some time.”
Four months is a long time out of action for Lashley, but you can understand why WWE did this bit instead of just stripping him off the title.
The All-Mighty will miss a good chunk of the WWE calendar and it will be interesting to see when Lashley returns.
He does have a win over Brock Lesnar and it was The Beast who become champion after Lashley got injured at Elimination Chamber.
Lesnar now faces Roman Reigns at WrestleMania in a champion vs champion clash. However, we could see the return of Lashley once WrestleMania is done and either Reigns or Lesnar require a fresh rivalry.
