Bobby Lashley faces The Miz next week on Raw and this could lead to Drew McIntyre having a great WrestleMania moment for the Scot
WWE had a bit of a dilemma regarding the future of the WWE Championship ahead of WrestleMania 37.
Roman Reigns was picked up Edge for a huge battle at WrestleMania. Edge won the Royal Rumble in extraordinary fashion and many voices within the industry wanted to see The Rated-R Superstar take on the Universal Champion.
They will get their wish now ahead of Mania and WWE can build a story around those two. Edge’s return going up against The Tribal Chief storyline is great but think of the other champion too.
McIntyre has barely put a foot wrong since winning the title at WrestleMania 36. Despite his dominance, there hasn’t really been a lot of talking points with him.
He has faced off against Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, The Big Show, Randy Orton and just came off an incredible Elimination Chamber match to keep the title.
Yes, Bobby Lashley and The Miz contrived to snatch the title away from him, but McIntyre was still a dominant champion.
However, McIntyre hasn’t been as huge a talking point as Reigns. Raw has been lagging when compared to SmackDown but that shouldn’t result in a lack of intriguing storylines for the champion.
Miz vs McIntyre seemed set to be in the offering after the 2021 Elimination Chamber but Lashley’s reveal on Raw threw a spanner in the works.
The All Mighty faces The Miz for the WWE title next week on Raw, and he could finally pick up the gold.
WWE working to give Drew McIntyre his WrestleMania moment?
McIntyre’s WWE return saw him win the 2020 Royal Rumble before defeating Lesnar for the title at WrestleMania 36.
However, there were no fans at WrestleMania 36 and McIntyre won the title in an empty arena. This was a complete 180 to how things went off at the 2020 Royal Rumble.
The energy and excitement from the fans was there for all to see as Edge made his return and then McIntyre winning the Rumble saw everyone go wild.
Wrestlers are performers and feed off the crowd. Credit must be given to WWE and the performers for continuing to perform without any real fans, the Thunderdome doesn’t count. However, the storyline on Raw could see McIntyre get his WrestleMania moment.
Lashley winning the title on Raw should see the All Mighty finally capture the top title. Even if he doesn’t win, it still should see McIntyre activate his rematch clause, something that hasn’t been spoken about at all.
WWE plans to have fans in attendance for WrestleMania 37, and this would be the perfect place for McIntyre to win his title back and celebrate with the fans.
Lashley going into the match as the champion would be something great too given how good he has been over the past year.
WWE could also set up a triple threat match between The Miz, McIntyre and Lashley for the grandest show on earth.
WrestleMania 36 was a grand success as WWE got all the results and performances right. They step up for the biggest shows and well, McIntyre celebrating with thousands of fans cheering would be a great moment for him and all of the WWE Universe.
