Jan Siewert earned his first win as the Huddersfield Town manager as Steve Mounie inspired the club to a 1-0 victory over Wolves on Tuesday to end a 14-game winless run.
The Terriers are not yet giving up hope of staying in the Premier League and produced a spirited performance against high-flying Wolves at the John Smith stadium. Despite the victory, they remain bottom of the table, still 11 points from safety with 10 games left in hand.
It remains to be seen whether the three points can spark a push for survival with 10 games remaining. But given the 11-point gap is too big to be bridged, Siewert’s men still remain likely to get relegated at the end of the season.
Should that happen, a lot of players could depart the club in the summer and one of them might be Mathias Jorgensen.
Mathias Jorgensen, 28, has enjoyed a really solid season regardless of Huddersfield Town conceding a staggering 50 goals. The Dane has played 23 league games, managing three goals and an assist and forming a strong partnership at the back with Christopher Schindler.
The 28-year-old has constantly shown he has the qualities to compete at the top-flight. That said, Bournemouth should make a move for Mathias Jorgensen in the summer.
Bournemouth are currently struggling to keep the ball out of their own net, having conceded 10 goals in the last six games. The Cherries have conceded a whopping 48 goals this season and while they are still 12th on the table, their position will only improve next season unless they toughen up their backline in the summer by splashing money in the transfer window.
Nathan Ake’s form has faded away lately, while Steve Cook and Simon Francis are on the treatment table. January recruit Chris Mepham is 21 and will need some time to adapt to the demands of the Premier League. This Bournemouth squad lacks a leader at the back and Howe would be wise to snap up Jorgensen from Huddersfield.
Standing at over 6ft 3in, the defender makes his presence felt in either box and is especially good at tracking the ball. The big Dane plays with a certain kind of tenacity and aggression that makes him a really tough player to come up against. He possesses fantastic organisational skills and is a vocal leader at the back.
A no-nonsense defender, Jorgensen is a strong, robust player who’ll add a lot of physicality to the Bournemouth backline. Furthermore, he will provide cover as well as competition for the likes of Nathan Ake, Simon Francis, Steve Cook and Chris Mepham.

At 28, the Danish international is playing at the peak of his career and there wouldn’t be a better time than the summer transfer window for Howe to sign Jorgensen.
