Bournemouth Opinion: Why Bournemouth should hold on to Ryan Fraser
According to the Sun, Everton are interested in making a £20million move for Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser in the summer, with manager Marco Silva keen on bolstering his attacking options.
The same report claims that Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe wants his star man to put pen to paper on a new £100,000-a-week deal but talks over a fresh contract between the player and the club have so far failed to reach a positive end.
Fraser has been one of the driving forces behind Bournemouth’s success in the Premier League this season, playing a crucial role for the south coast club down the right flank.
The 25-year-old Scottish international has contributed with 6 goals and 10 assists from 30 appearances in the league this term, with Eden Hazard being the only player to have supplied more assists.
Along with Callum Wilson, Joshua King and David Brooks, Fraser has been one of Bournemouth’s standout performers in the attacking third and Everton’s interest in the talented winger should come as a piece of welcome news to the fans at Merseyside.
While Fraser’s creativity from the wide areas can solve a lot of headaches for Marco Silva, the Cherries would suffer a big blow should the 25-year-old head for the exit door at the end of the season.
To put things into perspective, Fraser is an integral part of the Bournemouth side and his pace and quality down the flanks are invaluable assets to the Cherries. He has put in some wonderful performances against some of the top sides in the Premier League and Bournemouth should fight tooth and nail to hold on to him.
A right-footed inverted winger who likes to operate down the left, Fraser excels with his pace, agility and sharpness on the ball, whilst his crossing from the wide areas, as well as his deliveries from set-pieces, are right up there with the very best.
Blessed with quick feet, the Scotsman not only has the ability to link up with his teammates with short exchanges but he also backs himself to take on defenders single-handedly.
Fraser doesn’t look all that powerful but he is certainly no pushover down the flanks, with his short but sinewy frame allowing him to compete with stronger full-backs.
To add to that, he is good with his movement in attacking third, often drawing the defenders out of position to create openings. Furthermore, the 25-year-old is a calm and composed finisher who is adept at putting away the chances that come his way.
The Scottish international has averaged 2.2 key passes and 1.7 crosses per game in the Premier League this season, figures which are enough to prove that he is an indispensable component of Bournemouth’s attack.
The Cherries brought in youngsters like Dominic Solanke and Chris Mepham in January as a part of their long-term plans and keeping Ryan Fraser at the club could prove to be a make or break factor for them next season.

Still only 25, Fraser has plenty of years remaining on his prime, and that said, they should look to tie him down to a new deal.
