From Fat to Fit: Billy Joe Saunders Eyes Epic Comeback After Shocking Weight Gain, Jokes About Starting an OnlyFans Channel

Former middleweight and super-middleweight world champion, Billy Joe Saunders, stunned fans with his recent revelation about the extent of his weight gain during his sabbatical. Saunders admitted that he had put on so much weight that he could have started a paid content channel showcasing his overweight images and made money from it.

Saunders, who last fought against Canelo Alvarez in May 2021, had been enjoying the fruits of his labor and was barely seen in public. Viral images showed him weighing over 200 pounds, a significant increase from his usual 168-pound fighting weight.

However, determined to make a powerful comeback, Saunders is back in the gym, shedding the excess weight to make a mark in the light-heavyweight division. With his sights set on becoming a three-time world champion, the British boxer is focused on regaining his former glory. According to a report by World Boxing News:

“The [weight] loss is going day by day. I’m going to come back. You can hear it first,” said Saunders. “One-time world champion, two-time world champion, three-time world champion. I could maybe go up to light-heavy and see who’s there. See what champions are available at light-heavy [weight].”

Saunders also joked about his weight loss journey, stating, “I’m thinking of starting an OnlyFans for progress to show how fat I was and to show you how skinny I’m getting down to. No sex content. Well, who knows, really? Could be? – Not sure.”

The 33-year-old knows that time is on his side, having seen his friend Tyson Fury successfully shed weight for his redemption in 2018. Training alongside Fury and being mentored by Ben Davison, Saunders is familiar with the dedication and hard work required to get back in top shape.

Billy Joe Saunders Targets Unbeaten Contender Edgar Berlanga

Former two-division world champion, Billy Joe Saunders, has set his sights on a potential showdown with highly-ranked unbeaten 168-pound contender, Edgar Berlanga. Taking to social media, the 33-year-old Saunders (30-1, 14 KOs) expressed his desire to face Berlanga in his next fight, signaling his intention to return to the ring after a two-year hiatus following his eighth-round injury stoppage loss to Canelo Alvarez in May 2021.

Speculation arises as Saunders refers to the potential bout as a “warm-up” fight, raising questions about his financial situation and whether he seeks a quick payday after being away from the sport for an extended period. The British boxer earned a substantial amount from his fight with Canelo, leading some to wonder if he has already spent his entire fortune.

However, the seriousness of Saunders’ call-out remains uncertain, given Berlanga’s relative inexperience compared to his own. At just 26 years old, Berlanga (21-0, 16 KOs) is seen as a potential future light heavyweight, and his recent victory against Jason Quigley showcased his size advantage. Despite securing an impressive unanimous decision win, Berlanga faced challenges against Quigley, raising doubts about his readiness to compete against the likes of Canelo, David Morrell Jr, and David Benavidez in the super middleweight division.

Eddie Hearn, Berlanga’s promoter, would need to approve the potential matchup, but with Hearn’s plans to fast-track Berlanga to a future fight against Canelo, it seems unlikely that he would risk putting the novice fighter in with the more experienced Saunders.

Saunders’ technical skills and experience could present a daunting challenge for Berlanga, who may lack the necessary tools to compete at that level. If Saunders can get into top shape for the fight, he may showcase the same dominance he displayed against David Lemieux in 2017. Saunders’ eye socket fracture from his previous bout with Canelo has kept him inactive, but his recent desire to fight Berlanga indicates a potential comeback.

As fans wait for further developments, the boxing world eagerly anticipates whether the matchup between Billy Joe Saunders and Edgar Berlanga will come to fruition, offering a tantalizing clash of skills and styles in the super middleweight division.
