A future fight between Jake Paul and future UFC Hall of Famer Anderson Silva looks likely as the influencer turned boxer shares a childhood story involving the MMA legend
In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani at MMA Hour Jake Paul has revealed that he is up for a challenge to box the longest-reigning UFC champion Anderson Silva.
“Yes, definitely, I would love that fight. Interesting story, I think he was the first celebrity I ever saw.”
He continued:
Right when MMA was blowing up, my dad was a super big fan and we went to this local MMA event and they must have paid Anderson Silva to come because it was in Ohio so I don’t know why he would have been there. But I actually asked for his autograph and we took a picture with him. I’m maybe like 12 years old but I think he was the first celebrity that I met. So it would be fun to bring it back full circle and fight someone who was one of my first idols.” [via BJPENN.com]
A potential fight between the both has all the ingredients for a box-office hit and will quite possibly Paul’s biggest challenge to date. Anderson Silva has been on top of his game ever since he switched to boxing, roping in big wins against Julio Chavez Jr. and Tito Ortiz.
A lot of MMA fighters and experts have tipped Anderson Silva to be the perfect match-up against Jake because of his all-round boxing skills.
Whether this fight takes place in the near future is still undecided, but the idea of it excites boxing and MMA fans alike.
