Jake Paul is not interested in entertaining a fight with professional boxer Tommy Fury
Things would have been different if Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury had gone as planned. The two were set to face off on the 18th of December at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
A couple of weeks before the fight, Fury pulled out of the fight citing a rib injury (and also a chest infection). ‘The Problem Child’ wasn’t pleased with Fury’s decision to withdraw and aimed many a shot at him for doing the same.
However, Tyron Woodley, who had been Paul’s opponent in August 2021, stepped in to replace Fury. The fight went ahead as planned on the 18th of December and Paul won via. a brutal KO.
Following his win, talks of a fight against Fury once again resurfaced.
In a recent interview with Volume Sports, Paul made it clear that he was not interested in fighting Fury, and would even fight his bigger and popular half-brother Tyson instead.
He was quoted as saying:
“He wants the payday. But I said it before, I don’t wanna take the fight with him, he doesn’t deserve it. I’d rather fight Tyson Fury. I’ll fight his brother or his dad before I’ll fight Tommy.”
No cap says Jake Paul doubling down on the same
Quote tweeting Michael Benson who had quoted Paul not wanting to fight Tommy Fury, ‘The Problem Child’ wrote: “No cap.”
As of now, Paul doesn’t have immediate plans to get back into the ring although a number of opponents have been thrown into the mix.
He is currently looking to set up a fight between his famous client Amanda Serrano and Irish boxing champ Katie Taylor.
