Jake Paul will be fighting Tyron Woodley in a rematch after his original opponent Tommy Fury pulled out from the fight
It is back to Tyron Woodley for Jake Paul. ‘The Problem Child’ will be taking on the former UFC fighter in a rematch on the 18th of December, 2021.
Paul was originally scheduled to fight Tyson Fury’s half-brother Tommy Fury on the same date. However, Fury had to withdraw due to an undisclosed medical condition. The news of his withdrawal came a few hours before.
Following Fury’s withdrawal, Paul and his team wasted no time in setting up a rematch with Woodley. The YouTube star had beaten Woodley in August, earlier this year, via. split decision.
Announcing the same on Instagram, Paul wrote:
“When my team woke me up on Friday to tell me Tommy Fumbles was pulling out, I told them I’ll fight anyone on December 18th. Troy, Trey, Trevor, Travis,… I don’t give a fuck who it is. Tommy’s pulling out because of a “medical condition” called vaginitis. Unlike the Fury’s, Tyron actually has some balls, is stepping in, and contractually he is getting an extra $500,000 if he knocks me out. First time I outboxed him. This time I’m gonna punish him and leave no doubt. #PaulWoodley @showtimeboxing @mostvaluablepromotions.”
It is worth noting that Paul ordered Woodley to get an ‘I Love Jake Paul’ tattoo which Woodley, in turn, got done. That was when Fury’s name was thrown into the mix and a Paul vs Fury fight was made official.
It’s hard to blame Tommy Fury here. The Englishman himself was dejected to have withdrawn from the fight. He said in a statement:
“I am absolutely heartbroken that I have been forced to withdraw from my fight with Jake Paul due to a bacterial chest infection and broken rib. I really do hope we can get this fight rescheduled in the new year. I want this fight to still happen more than anything.”
