Manny Pacquiao officially announces his retirement
Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao has officially announced his retirement from the sport. The 42 year old competed in his last bout just last month which resulted in a defeat from Yordenis Ugas. Pacquiao took to Twitter to share an emotional message where he said:
“To the greatest fans and the greatest sport in the world, thank you! Thank you for all the wonderful memories. This is the hardest decision I’ve ever made, but I’m at peace with it. Chase your dreams, work hard, and watch what happens. Good bye boxing.”
Pacquiao has certainly made the hardest decision of his life. He earlier announced that he will be running for the President of Philippines in the upcoming 2022 elections in the country. Upon making this decision Pac Man thanked his fans and also asked them to chase their dreams like he did.
Manny Pacquiao Boxing career
Pacquiao is one of the greatest if not the greatest boxer in the history of the sport. He is the only boxer in history to win world titles in EIGHT different weight classes. Pazquiao is also a 12 time world champion who competed in eight weight divisions.
Pacquiao had his first professional match at the age of 16 in 1995. Pacquiao since then went on to have a total of 72 fights in his career. He has 62 wins in his career 39 of which came be knockout and 8 draws and 2 losses.
Pacquiao’s most recent bout against Ugas also ended in a defeat after he lost to the cuban via a unanimous decision. He truly has one of the most illustrious careers in the sport of boxing.
