Why Kylian Mbappe would make Real Madrid a force to reckon with again

According to Betfair (h/t Sun), Rivaldo has tipped PSG forward Kylian Mbappe to join Real Madrid at the end of this season.

Frenchman Mbappe is arguably one of the brightest stars on the planet now, having won the World Cup with France in 2018 and due to his standout displays for the French giants in recent times. The 21-year-old centre-forward has been continuously linked with a move to the La Liga giants since his eye-catching displays for former side Monaco as a teenager.

An excellent loan spell at the Parc des Princes, where he scored 21 goals and assisted 15 times in 44 games, saw the youngster earn himself a big-money move the following summer.

There is no denying that the Frenchman is a pure talent as his arrival once again put PSG back on top of the league table. From then, Mbappe has been one of the side’s best performers.

After securing his permanent move to PSG in 2018, he emerged as the league’s top-scorer with a massive 33 goals in 29 matches. He seems to have continued his top-form this season by emerging as the club’s top scorer in the league so far, with 18 goals from 20 matches.

To date, Mbappe has featured in over 120 games across all competitions for the French champions and has scored a whopping 90 goals in the process. His excellent passing in the final-third has seen him contribute to the side with 49 assists as well.

Mbappe’s mere numbers for such a big club playing at the highest level speaks volumes about his potential. However, there is one big trophy that has still eluded him. The young attacker, who has won almost every major trophy he could lay his hands on, has one major honour that is missing from his trophy cabinet – the Champions League.

Mbappe’s PSG seemed to be in fine form this year, with the side advancing to the quarterfinals before play got suspended due to the coronavirus crisis.

PSG defeated Real Madrid 3-0 at home in their first group-stage match of the competition. Surprisingly, he was not a part of the match as he sat out due to injury. He later returned to the side and went on to score five goals and give as many assists from seven games. Meanwhile, Real Madrid since the departure of the star forward Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018 have missed a consistent goal-scorer up front.

The Galacticos have still not found a suitable replacement for the Portuguese, who played a major role in Madrid’s dominance in the European competition from 2015 to 2018. Eden Hazard, who was brought in as a replacement last summer, has failed to live up to the expectations, missing out a major portion of the season due to fitness issues.

That said, Madrid clearly need a real goal-threat up front to once again go back on the map. Mbappe, considering his goal-scoring prowess, seems to be the best bet. It would be better if Madrid do not waste more time and land the talented Mbappe, who is a perfect fit at a club of their stature.

Having proved his mettle already at such a young age, it’s high time a big club like Madrid snapped him up. His arrival would definitely help the Spanish side.
