Legend of Zelda has been a fan favourite since it first came out. The story continues in the new game Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 (BOTW 2) and here is all about the release date, leaks and more
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 or BOTW 2 was recently announced at the E3 2021. Fans were excited about the new Zelda game since Nintendo released a teaser of the untitled Breath of the Wild sequel at E3 2019.
The developers were inspired by the development of the previous game and had way too many ideas for DLC. That’s when they decided to make a new game entirely.
Breath of the Wild 2: First Teaser Trailer
In the first teaser, we can see Link and Zelda exploring an underground cave. They are travelling on an animal similar to an elephant. We come across a mummified corpse with gold ornaments and red glowing eyes.
Breath of the Wild 2: Second Teaser Trailer
During Nintendo’s E3 2021 Direct we got another look at the new game. With Nintendo releasing another teaser for the game with the release date. According to the series producer Eiji Aunoma, “the setting for the adventure has been expanded to include the skies above Hyrule.”
So it is fair to assume that we will be able to navigate the skies of Hyrule which is a stark contrast to the first teaser of underground caves.
Release date for BOTW 2
According to the teaser released at E3 2021, the game will release in 2022. There has been no further news regarding that. Breath of the Wild was released in March 2017. So March 2022 is a very possible release date marking the 5th anniversary of the game.
Theories for BOTW 2
Since the release of the first teaser, fans have been speculating that Ganondorf will be a playable character. We will learn about the fall of Ganondorf and then saving him from the evil that is ruling over him for generations. And thus, we break the cycle started by Demise.
The official name of the sequel could also be ‘Demise of the Wild’ a direct opposite of the first one. Demise is also the main antagonist of ‘Skyward Sword’ which was re-released for the Nintendo Switch.
All the games in the Zelda series have been a spectacular experience. With the Breath of the Wild, they took it even further. The sequel looks even more exciting. We’ll update you as we get more news about BOTW 2.
