Netflix’s period-set hit Bridgerton made its debut with an episode on Christmas Day 2020 and now returns with season 2. Premiering Friday, March 25th will be eight episodes based on Julia Quinn’s book The Viscount Who Loved Me for season two of Bridgerton.

Jonathan Bailey will return as Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, but his attentions will be drawn away by two eligible bachelorettes in Season 9. Charithra Chandran plays younger sister Edwina who comes all the way from India determined to win over Viscount Bridgerton as her heir; Kate (Simone Ashley) attempts to crush those ambitions while their verbal sparring leaves Cupid bewildered and confused.

Phoebe Dynevor will reprise her role as Daphne while Luke Newton will be back as Colin; the Featherington sisters (Nicola Coughlan and Polly Walker) should also return; unfortunately, Rege-Jean Page won’t be around anymore as the Duke of Hastings.

Fans are glad to see that Page has decided to return, and are eagerly awaiting its full return. Society Papers remains an intriguing, romantic drama with plenty of scandal.

Season 2 Trailer

Since Bridgerton debuted on Netflix last December, its first season has become an international viewing phenomenon. Created by Shondaland exec producer Chris Van Dusen based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling series of novels, Bridgerton boasts steamy yet sentimental and scandalous depictions of Regency-era London that have resonated worldwide. Season two will premiere on March 25. A brand new trailer just premiered.

The second season will be based on Quinn’s Bridgerton series novel The Viscount Who Loved Me and will follow eligible bachelor Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), in his search for bride Edwina Sharma – although this may prove challenging as Edwina’s older sister Kate Sheffield may prove meddlesome during their relationship. Deadline reports:

This second season will bring back most of the cast from season 1, including Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington and Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne. But there will also be added drama – recently, Nicola teased that her character might face some consequences from Lady Whistledown’s revealing gossip columnist. Furthermore, new characters such as Shelley Conn as Mary Sharma, Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte, and Calam Lynch as Jack will join this ensemble cast.

Season 2 Cast

Bridgerton features a stellar cast that ranges from the stars of Derry Girls to creators of BBC period drama Harlots; featuring all these stellar talent in one ambitious, irreverent, and inventive depiction of Regency London society. Debuted on Christmas Day 2020 by Shondaland Productions and Netflix; quickly becoming their most-watched show ever!

Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), joined by his siblings Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) is determined to dominate the social season. Meanwhile, Jonathan Bailey plays Viscount Anthony Bridgerton who endeavors to dominate it further.

Alongside its main players are an array of actors ranging from Phoebe Dynevor and Rege-Jean Page to newcomers Simone Ashley and Charithra Chandran – one of the most diverse ensembles ever seen on British TV and testament to the series’ dedication to highlighting talented dark-skinned talent.

Chandran hails from Galway, Ireland, and finds working with Van Dusen “an absolute joy”. Her experience working together on Bridgerton allowed her to showcase her talent while also showing that dark-skinned women can serve as leads in historical dramas such as this. Chandran hopes her presence can increase diversity on screen and show viewers it’s possible for dark-skinned characters to take the leading roles during period dramas.

Simone Ashley joins an all-star cast including Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley), Bessie Carter (Philipa Featherington), Martins Imhangbe (Will Mondrich), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton) and Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte).
