Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa featured in the main event of AEW Dynamite this week inside a steel cage. Thunder Rosa won the brutal affair and started her first championship reign in AEW.
Baker and Rosa were the first two women to main-event an episode of AEW Dynamite last year. Rosa defeated Baker on that occasion as well in an unsanctioned Lights Out match which was highly acclaimed by critics.
This match saw brutality on a different level with several weapons being used by both competitors. The hard-fought match ended when Rosa hit the Fire Thunder Driver into the thumbtacks and secured the victory.
This ended the first contracted female wrestler of AEW’s reign which lasted almost 10 months and it was a match worthy enough to take the title from her.
Baker posted a tweet staying in her typical on-screen heel persona that while others spend their off day relaxing and recovering, she was about to leave the dental office with bruises and cuts endured in the grueling steel cage match.
She said that she might have lost but she gave everyone the best championship reign that no one will appreciate until she becomes the champion once again.
She also shared three pictures along with this match. The full tweet is given below:
Twitter reactions following Britt Baker’s tweet:
The former AEW champion might be a heel on AEW but that doesn’t mean she lacks a devoted fanbase.
The 30-year-old had a very impressive title run. She rubbed shoulders with the likes of Red Velvet, Tay Conti, and Thunder Rosa to name a few.
The Twitter reactions to Baker’s tweet are given below:
It’s going to be interesting to see where Baker goes from here. She will have a rematch for the title versus Rosa. Whether she gets back her title only time will tell. However, it seems that Rosa will keep the title for some time now as she worked very hard for it.
This is Rosa’s first title reign in AEW. The 35-year-old is another superstar who receives huge support from the fans. She almost won the title at AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view earlier this month. Her efforts were foiled by distractions from Jamie Hayter and Rebel. Baker took advantage and survived that night.
