The Anime Daily
Bunny Girl Senpai made an immediate splash when its first season debuted in 2018 and quickly became one of the best anime of that year. Thanks to its incredible format and adorable characters, Bunny Girl Senpai quickly rose up the charts as one of its best shows that year. Following its initial success, speculations are currently ongoing about its second season; potentially being released sometime within a year or two.
This series is an anime adaptation of Hajime Kamoshida and Keji Mizoguchi’s Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai light novel published in October 2018; 13 episodes were broadcast with tremendous success and received excellent reviews from both critics and audiences alike.
Fans are eagerly anticipating a second season of Bunny Girl Senpai; however, its release will depend on how quickly its author can write new volumes. The first anime series adapted five books in Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai series; volumes six and seven were then made into a movie which was released earlier in 2019.
Bunny Girl Senpai can now be watched online through Funimation and Hulu. Additionally, Amazon and Crunchyroll offer Blu-ray and DVD purchases of this anime classic! For fans of Japanese animation alike, Bunny Girl Senpai should not be missed!

Bunny Girl Senpai’s first season wrapped up four years ago, yet fans remain eagerly awaiting its second. This anime series was highly regarded among its audience, and its movie adaptation proved immensely popular, selling over 7000 Blu-ray discs and over 800 merchandise pieces in its opening weekend alone – which is impressive considering this was only the initial season and movie release!
However, due to only 13 volumes in the manga series being covered, it is unlikely a second season would be released. Furthermore, CloverWorks and Aniplex plan on producing their third film adaptation of Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid set for release in 2023 as an anime feature film adaptation of volume 9 entitled Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid which will cover this volume of the series.
Although chances for another anime season may be slim, many fans remain hopeful. The first series received excellent reviews and was immensely popular; its movie even earned significant box office earnings; so any further season should likely become another blockbuster success story.
Bunny Girl Senpai may return in the next year or two. Unfortunately, it will be hard to predict exactly when this might occur as its creators could wait until there is sufficient source material available to create another season – in addition, they must ensure its success!
Anime News Network
Fans were delighted to hear of Bunny Girl Senpai’s sequel being greenlit since its first season had become such a massive hit and its movie did so well at the box office. People remain optimistic and hope for a second season release date announcement but as yet no details have been given regarding its debut.
Anime News Network reported that CloverWorks anime will likely not return until at least 2024 due to an ongoing light novel series that still has five volumes to adapt into an animated adaptation; hence their indecision regarding it.
Another cause for the delay may be other projects currently underway at the anime studio. At present, they are working on an adaptation of My Dress-Up Darling; several staff from Bunny Girl Senpai will return for this project led by director Soichi Masui while Masahiro Yokotani who has written several titles will serve as scriptwriter for this title as well.
Though unlikely to be called Bunny Girl Senpai 2, the next film may take on another name such as Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out or Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid; just as in Bakemonogatari series. This title may change for each new installment in this franchise.
Anime Reviews
Bunny Girl Senpai’s debut season was an unprecedented success. Selling over 7,000 Blu-ray discs, it can now be found streaming across Funimation, Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Amazon Prime Video platforms. Furthermore, an animated movie was also produced featuring over 800 pieces of merchandise making this adaptation one of the most beloved titles to come out recently.
The series was well received by both hardcore and casual anime fans alike, though some ELITISTS quickly gave negative reviews; most people found the show entertaining and enjoyable though some found parts offensive or distasteful. It has gone on to become one of the best anime of 2018 worldwide and has gained worldwide prominence.
However, CloverWorks has yet to make an announcement regarding a potential second season of this popular anime. While the first film covered volumes 6-7 of the light novel series, Volume 8 will only be covered in its second film release. Thus it may take some time for them to decide whether or not a second season should be produced.
Conclusion
Before we know for certain, fans must patiently wait for more episodes of Bunny Girl Senpai. With any luck, hopefully, the show will be renewed for another season and air later this year or 2024; fans in the meantime can continue following Mai and Sakuta’s story!
