Why Burnley should make a move for QPR winger Bright Osayi-Samuel
According to Sun journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter, Burnley are interested in signing Queens Park Rangers starlet Bright Osayi-Samuel this month.
Bright Osayi-Samuel, 22, has been on the books of Queens Park Rangers since the summer of 2017 when he joined from Blackpool. He has made 17 starts and three substitute appearances in the Championship for QPR so far this season, scoring four goals and providing four assists in the process.
Nixon’s tweet further adds Burnley striker Nahki Wells, who spent the first half of the season at QPR, could be swapped as part of the deal. Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Wigan Athletic are also in the race to sign Wells.
Burnley ended their three-game losing run in the Premier League with back-to-back wins over Leicester City and Manchester United. Those victories have lifted them up to 13th in the table. The Clarets’ lack of creativity should be a concern for Sean Dyche, with not a single player consistent enough to assist Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes upfront.
Sean Dyche’s side have scored only 28 goals in 24 outings, with the majority of the goals contributed by Wood (10) and Barnes (6). Wide players such as Dwight McNeil, Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Aaron Lennon have contributed to only two goals this season. Aside from goals, the Lancashire outfit also lacks cutting edge going forward and thus, their interest in Bright Osayi-Samuel makes sense.
Osayi-Samuel played 18 times in his first year at QPR before playing 34 times in all competitions the last term. He has made a blistering start to the season for the Londoners, scoring five goals and supplying as many assists in 22 appearances in all competitions.

A right-winger by trade, the 22-year-old can operate down the other flank and as a false nine too. His ability to play on either flank would bring about a healthy competition for places within Burnley’s attacking ranks.

Osayi-Samuel has truly shown promising signs over the last 12 months, as evident from his numbers. Burnley would do a smart job by signing him from QPR before the deadline.
