With the upcoming release of Call of Duty Vanguard, Warzone Season 6 will be the last before the new game is integrated into the battle royale. Here is everything you need to know about the new update and the changes in game.
Call of Duty is releasing the new season for Black Ops and Warzone. This might as well be the final season for the two games as the new Call of Duty game Vanguard will be releasing in November. While Warzone’s content updates will continue as it is revamped with Vanguard, the same cannot be said for Cold War. It is possible that Treyarch will continue to add content, as Infinity Ward did with Modern Warfare 2 in 2021. However, Season 6 is most likely the game’s final major update.
The official Twitter account for Call of Duty confirmed the release date for the new season in a tweet made on September 29. Call of Duty Season 6 will be released on October 7.
Season 6’s official intro video teases several storylines. It mostly takes place on Verdansk, and there are several explosions in the video. It appears that the developers are preparing for the eventual destruction of Verdansk, which will lead to the release of The Pacific map with Vanguard in November. In the teaser, however, the explosions appeared to be limited to Stadium. It’s unclear what kind of implications this will have when the new season begins, but it could be exactly what Verdansk needs, given that Downtown is notoriously the most difficult area on the map.
Because there are so many tall buildings with excellent vantage points that overlook the surrounding area, highly skilled players are known to hold the Downtown area. Downtown also has a lot of cash and loot in a small area, allowing players to quickly take over the area and collect their loadouts before anyone else. This also means that anyone passing through Downtown after the first zone will have a difficult time surviving. Sometimes you can go around Downtown, but other times the gas forces you to go through it. The issue is that it generally comes down to timing and luck.
In the Season 6 trailer, players have also noticed a familiar figure. Mason from previous Black Ops titles returns in Season 6 as a playable Operator and pivotal figure in the plot. It appears that he and the heroes are joining forces against Stitch, the man responsible for the explosions in Verdansk, for one final showdown.
Activision will release more information as we approach the release date of the new season. This will include preload times, file sizes and a roadmap for the whole season. Call of Duty Season 6 will be released on October 7.
